SUSIE

I've had an interest in movement and complementary medicine for 40 years. My career kicked off with training to be a cook then I qualified as a massage therapist + clinical aromatherapist, followed by Bowen Therapy in 2008

My first yoga class was aged 16 but as a gymnast I found it too slow; a few years later I tried pre-natal yoga but I distinctly remember sitting in a pose thinking I'd rather be doing cartwheels! Roll on another few years and a love of yoga was born here in Australia

Physically I've relieved my aches and pains through my yoga practice, improved my posture and understood the importance of slowing down for my personality type. Yoga has slowly helped me be less judgemental + anxious, built resilience and lifts my spirits when life gets tough. I also feel it's helped me cope with having an auto immune disease and perhaps dampened down some of the symptoms as I've gone from spending a lot of time as a go-go-go personality in fight, flight or fright to learning how to move into rest, digest and repair. It's an on-going lesson, starting each day trying to make better choices and be less reactive, fitting in one or many elements of a yoga practice such as breathwork, mindfulness or yoga postures

My yoga classes are influenced by my background as a massage therapist as much as by my yoga teacher training. My style involves a comprehensive warm-up, moving into poses to strengthen our core muscles (abs, hips, back) and improve our posture before a delicious bit of time in relaxation

My aim is to create a practice for my students that is relaxing, remedial and restorative to the mind, body and soul
